Inventory legitimate sending services
Mailboxes, invoicing tools, support platforms, and web forms can have different requirements. Missing a legitimate sender can turn an intended security improvement into a delivery problem. Start with the domain, systems, and people responsible for each sender.
Understand SPF, DKIM, and DMARC together
SPF authorizes infrastructure for an envelope domain. DKIM signs messages with a key associated with a signing domain. DMARC evaluates alignment with the visible From domain and provides policy and reporting mechanisms. Three published records alone do not establish a correct setup.
Plan a staged change
Compare provider instructions with the current records and available reporting. A move toward stronger DMARC enforcement should account for legitimate senders and observed results. The appropriate sequence depends on the domain and its existing mail flows, rather than a blanket policy recommendation.
Validate what recipients see
Pair configuration review with representative messages and authentication results where available. Authentication helps establish authorized use of a domain, but does not guarantee inbox placement. Reputation, content, recipient policies, and other factors still affect delivery.
Questions about email authentication
Will this keep every message out of spam?
No. Authentication is one part of delivery; recipient filtering, reputation, and content also matter.
Can you review multiple mail services together?
Yes. We review the domain configuration and current documented requirements for the relevant providers within an agreed scope.
